A five-step guide to what happens once we start working together, and what we need from you.
1. What we need to get started
Your logo
A PDF, EPS or high-resolution JPEG if possible.
Hosting login
Your hosting account and/or cPanel login.
Current website login
If your current site runs on WordPress.
Your content
The text for the new site, SEO-friendly if possible.
Images
Any new pictures you would like to use on the new site.
Brand style guide
Colours, fonts or any special graphics you use.
You can upload these to your preferred project management tool, or we will use Trello and/or Google Drive.
2. Trello
Trello is a project management and collaboration tool that uses a visual approach to organise tasks, projects and workflows.
Fewer long email threads
It keeps the project in one place, so important details do not get lost in long email chains.
Your own board
Once the project starts, you will receive a link to your Trello board.
Or your own system
If you already have a project management system in place, we are happy to work with you in it.
3. Google Drive
Google Drive is cloud storage for sharing and working on files together. It works well for larger files such as photos, documents and brand assets, and connects with the other Google tools you may already use.
4. The design process
Designing a website, big or small, is an extensive process that can feel overwhelming. We break it into three steps.
Step 1: Layout and design
A large part of website design is the layout, structure and look of the site. We create the framework and send you the home page and a sub-page (or more on request) for approval.
Step 2: Development
Once the layout and design are approved, we build every page, the functionality and the responsive code, so the site looks good and works well on all devices and browsers.
Step 3: Revisions and edits
When the site is ready for final review, you go through each page and we make detailed edits until every revision is done.
5. Preparing for launch
When the site is ready to go live, we remove every unnecessary plugin, page, image and back-end file. The new site is backed up and saved, should it ever need to be restored.
Once it is live, allow 24 to 48 hours for the change to reach everyone. Some computers need a refresh to show the new site, though most will see it straight away, depending on the connection.
We send your website logins and credentials through Trello or email.
Please save all your logins somewhere safe for your records.
When the project is complete, you will receive our Moving Forward guide, with tips on marketing your new website and details of our maintenance and security care plans, which we recommend for every client.
